Bercerita tentang Jane (Meryl Streep) seorang wanita pemilik toko roti yang sudah bercerai dengan Jake (Alec Baldwin) sejak sepuluh tahun yang lalu. Jake meninggalkan Jane karena wanita yang lebih muda dan kemudian menikah dengan wanita muda tersebut lalu mempunyai seorang anak lelaki. Jake dan Jane pun telah mempunyai tiga orang anak yang semuanya sudah beranjak dewasa, Lauren (Caitlin Fritzgerald) dan tunangannya Harley(John Krasinski) sudah memiliki rencana untuk menikah, lalu Gabby (Zoe Kazan) yang akan keluar dari rumah dan tinggal sendiri, lalu Luke (Hunter Parrish) yang sedang menunggu upacara wisuda beberapa hari lagi. Ketika sedang berada di New York untuk persiapan wisuda Luke, Jane dan Jake tidak sengaja bertemu di bar yang berakhir di atas ranjang. Hal ini kemudian berlangsung terus menerus. Jane merasa bersalah karena Jake telah mempunyai seorang istri dan ini menempatkan dirinya di posisi sebagai selingkuhan. Sebuah hal yang lucu sekali yaa berselingkuh dengan mantan suami sendiri?
